Mintpass Mintpad, Scratchpadding 2.0

This item was filled under [ IPod & Mp3 ]

Remember the last time you jotted something down on a Post-it?  Well, neither do I.  I actually have some buried in my drawers but since the day of Mac widgets I kinda found no use for them anymore.  Enter the Mintpad from Mintpass, a 3.2-ounce 3.08 x 2.51 x .60-inch digital pad packed with wi-fi.  There’s more you can do with this little gadget than just scratchpadding.  You can blog, play music, browse the internet, and even chat.  Watch the video demos on their website and if you want to grab these, they’re ~$155 a pop but you’d have to fly to Korea for it.  [Pocketables] Continue reading…

Cowon hacks prices on practically every PMP it makes

Cowon hacks prices on practically every PMP it makes

Cowon already lowered the primary barrier to entry on its PMP line once this year, but evidently that wasn’t enough. In order to entice prospective buyers to go ahead and snag that Cowon-branded player they’ve been on the fence about, the outfit has taken a sling blade to the stickers of the F2, D2, I7, Q5W, A3 and U5, leaving just the O2 as-is. The cuts aren’t exactly small beans either, with discounts ranging from $10 to $70 off of MSRP. For the full list of new and old prices, hop on past the break. Continue reading…

Mintpass tiny Mintpad brings handwriting back from the 20th century

Mintpass' tiny Mintpad brings handwriting back from the 20th century

We can’t remember the last time we stealthily scribbled a note to a coworker instead of shooting an IM, but Mintpass (a Korean firm founded by former iriver minds) believes some folks want to do both at once with Mintpad, a wireless handheld that’s one part Nintendo DS, one part iPod, and another part Post-it note. Yes, it surfs the web on 802.11b/g WiFi and plays 4GB (or more with a microSD card) of music and videos on its sub-3-inch 320 x 240 display, but the draw is handwriting with a stylus. Don’t pick it up if you’re looking for handwriting recognition, though — you just jot down notes the old fashioned way, though you can pass them over the internet to others who have their own Mintpads. We’ve seen a note or two saying you can pick one up in South Korea for ₩198,000, or about $156.

Mindbender: Samsung Yepp Cube Puzzle MP3

This item was filled under [ IPod & Mp3 ]

I simply dread the Rubik Cube; whenever I was set up for a challenge, I would end up switching the color stickers to crack the game. I know, shame on me for cheating! But puzzles get me all wicked! As far as the Samsung Yepp Cube Puzzle MP3, I know I won’t be such a goose.

Digital Cube reveals i-Station T5 PMP with HSDPA

Another month, another i-Station. This time, though, Digital Cube has really managed to pique our interest with the T5, a fifth-generation PMP that boasts such luxuries as inbuilt HSDPA and a 4.8-inch WVGA (800 x 480 resolution) display. We’re also told that it’ll be rocking a T-DMB TV tuner, an FM module, 3D user interface, SDHC card slot, 8GB / 16GB of internal storage space and an e-dictionary, of course. Pricing and release information has yet to be revealed, though you can bet it’ll be hitting up South Korea before it ships anywhere else.

Rosie Contemporary remote by Savant

If you are bored of your regular rectangular Remote, invest in the all-new Rosie Contemporary Remote by Savant. A relief from the usual rectangular design, this Remote is shaped like a dish and small enough to fit in your palm. Its operation is also simple as all you have to do is use your thumb to scroll past various control options just like an iPod. The Rosie On Screen home control menu is what sets this remote apart from the rest. Icons relating to a home’s lighting, audio/video, security, thermostats and more are laid out in a circular fashion. Just scroll around till you get the option of your choice or press the select button and Rosie will bring up another menu of choices. That’s not all; you can program the hard buttons on the side of the touch sensitive scroll wheel to perform a variety of functions like dimming and brightening the lights when you are in the lighting control menu. You can also custom design the outer shell of this Remote in any material or finish you want, from leather to metal, pick the material of your choice. Or if you are too lazy, just stick to the original standard high gloss black finish. This Contemporary remote is priced at $400 while the On Screen Display costs $3,800. So if you think you can handle the price tag, get rid of that rectangular remote right away.

Asus MP3 for the tweens in your life

A new age group has been identified and they are the tweens. Aged between 6 to 14, they are a group that is fickle, pre-puberty-cranky and gullible. Designing something for them is a tricky business but looks like Nardo has made some progress with the Asus MP3 concept. Continue reading…

Hobart I-Cool chair helps burn fat without exercise

Hobart I-Cool chair helps burn fat without exercise

At first glance, Hobart I-Cool chair looks extremely futuristic and I almost believed that to be its USP. It looked like it was taken straight out of Wall-E. It would’ve been very useful for the humans in Wall-E anyway. What it does do is help reduce body weight while you lounge around doing nothing. The concept used for this is a proprietary system for temperature regulation, which users can set according to their comfort. Basically, it sounds like a sauna chair to me. However, I’m always for burning fat without exercise. That’s why I’m going to support the Tel-Aviv-based Padwa Design’s I-Cool seat all I can! It’s the answer to every couch potato’s prayer.

My Wind Chime is Smarter than Yours

My Wind Chime is Smarter than Yours

Ah wind chimes. They can be so relaxing or excruciatingly irritating. It wouldn’t be so bad if they served a functional purpose but thanks to some innovative Korean designers, tomorrow’s wind chimes will ring for a purpose. It’s called Tinkling, an slick ultra-modern wind chime that rings whenever you receive a digital message (email, voicemail, text).

The idea is quite simple. Nobody wants to stand around their computer all day waiting for would be important messages. RELAX, kick off your shoes and go enjoy a glass of wine on your balcony or deck. Whenever you do receive a message, the Tinkling rings, its blowing tail changes color, and a message is displayed across the embedded screen.
