Suck At Typing? Try This!

This item was filled under [ Computers ]

Remember typing class in elementary school?  Wouldn’t it have been a lot more bearable with this KeyRight Look & Learn color-coded keyboard?  It has eight “finger zones” to help you remember which key to press with which finger.  There’s a fun interactive learning software with the package but they claim that users can learn just as well by simply using the keyboard alone.  Windows/Mac compatible with USB connection, and you can grab one for $40.  Now what do I do with my other two fingers?  [Electronista]

Meet Sparky, the DIY Mac mini telepresence robot

When robot builders try to put a human face on their creations, the results usually range between mildly creepy and downright disturbing. Sparky, the Self Portrait Artifact Roving Chassis, dodges that problem entirely by displaying the face of a real, live person on an Erector- and bungee-mounted LCD, creating a package that’s far more charming than iRobot’s ConnectR. Palit's Radeon HD 4870 X2 has preposterous clock speeds, marketing hype

Hong Kong-based video card manufacturer Palit is excited about its Revolution 700 Deluxe video card — so much so that we’re a little frightened by the force of its enthusiasm. The ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 GPU is no slouch to begin with, but this iteration has cores overclocked to 750MHz and 2GB of GDDR5 memory at a face-melting 3.8GHz. Continue reading…

Is It Stank By Your Computer?

This item was filled under [ Computers, Notebooks ]

Oh I know a lot of people who should get this thing ASAP. The Aroma USB has a scented fragrance strip that dispenses a nice does of freshness anytime the air gets a little stale around you. It does use a bit of power to heat up the strip and drive a small fan and I can forgive the fact it doesn’t have any memory even tho it’s so big because at the end of the day - stank is nasty and stank needs to be delt with. Agree?

Luxurious Eazo CPU

This item was filled under [ Computers ]

Royal, regal, sophisticated and may be glamorous…that’s what I would like to call this collection of Eazo CPUs designed by Chris. If I had the money (cause I’m sure they’ll cost a packet), I would love to change my hardware into something more luxurious as this. The oriental styling is superb and the delicate interpretations ooze enchantment. All I know is that it hosts an Intel Core 2 processor, but whatever the stats, I want to see this baby in my home!

Eclipse III Backlit Keyboard: a backlit keyboard enthusiast’s dream

Eclipse III Backlit Keyboard: a backlit keyboard enthusiast's dream

We get pretty tired of keyboards that don’t completely rule. The Eclipse III from Saitek probably isn’t one of them — it’s backlit, after all, and that backlighting is totally multi-color, which is pretty important. At least to us. If that wasn’t enough, this USB plug and play beast boasts a “two stage height” adjustor system, keys which are “laser-etched,” headphone and microphone audio ports — oh! and “time-saving Windows and internet shortcut keys.” We have yet to see any indication of price, nor do we know when it will drop. Can we make a suggestion? ASAP would be for the best.

Apple chimes in to debunk those Mac mini / iMac rumors

Apple chimes in to debunk those Mac mini / iMac rumors

There was a day during an age not far removed from our memory in which Apple would remain dead silent on any murmuring going on regarding its wares — clearly, that day has passed. In a rather unprecedented move, an actual spokesman named Bill Evans emerged from the Cupertino cocoon in order to put to rest all those wildly speculative rumors going on about new iMacs and / or Mac minis. Quite frankly, he uttered that “[Apple's] holiday line-up is set.” Our take? This move is likely being made in order to assure prospective holiday shoppers that buying now is “safe,” and that new gear isn’t just weeks / days / nanoseconds away. C’mon, you know a well-oiled machine like Apple doesn’t want all sorts of about-to-be-outdated Mac inventory clogging its supply chain when Macworld rolls around, don’tcha?

YoYotech Fi7epower MLK1610 PC is really, really fast

This item was filled under [ Computers ]

YoYotech is making no bones about their Fi7epower MLK1610 PC: according to them, it’s “the fastest PC in the world,” and “officially,” at that. Well then. The dubious value of such claims aside, the so-called “completely insane” MLK1610 houses an Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition CPU (overclocked to 3.73GHz) atop an X58 chipset, 9GB of DDR3 RAM, an 80GB Intel X25-M SSD, 1TB standard hard drive, a Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics card with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, and it’s all sitting on ASUS’ P6T motherboard. P7etty sweet, right? It’s probably worth the £3,995.85 (about $6,337) you’re going to have to spend to make it yours, too. Oh — did we mention what a looker it is?

Intel Core i7 review roundup

Intel Core i7 review roundup

We’ve already seen a few benchmarks of Intel’s new Core i7 processor, but if you’re still craving some more details about Intel’s latest and greatest you now have plenty more than that to chew on, with reviews, overviews, and yet more benchmarks pouring in left and right. As you might expect, most sites are describing the CPU as a very big deal for Intel, with the folks at Maximum PC even going so far as to call it the company’s “most significant CPU launch in, well, ever.” Continue reading…

ASUS finally details ET1602 / ET1603 Eee Top all-in-one PCs

ASUS finally details ET1602 / ET1603 Eee Top all-in-one PCs

If you’ve paid any attention to the release cycle of ASUS’ Eee Top, you’d have noticed by now that things have been done in quite the unorthodox way. Although we’ve already learned most everything we need to know from buyers in global markets, ASUS has finally seen fit to do us English-speaking folk a solid and host up official detail sites for both the ET1602 and ET1603. Both rigs boast a 15.6-inch touchscreen LCD, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB 5,400RPM hard drive, 1.3-megapixel webcam, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, a pair of stereo speakers, two USB 2.0 ports, a multicard reader, audio in / out and a swank carry handle for lugging it around. The only difference between the two flavors is the GPU; the ET1602 includes an integrated graphics set, while the ET1603 packs a discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450. Per usual, ASUS isn’t dishing out any further pricing / release deets, but most everything else you could ever want to know (about the pair, not life or taxes) is just a click or two away. Intel’s Core i7 purchased, overclocked, benchmarked

Intel's Core i7 purchased, overclocked, benchmarked

Looking for the latest in CPU spice to keep your gaming rig flowing? You’d better go find your wallet/purse and head to your local computer shop for a fresh Core i7 (née Nehalem), because they are apparently available for sale right now — before most of the major sites have even received theirs. User gooddog over at the Overclock.net forums has flaunted posted this picture of his recently purchased 3.2GHz Core i7 Extreme 965 CPU. Paired with an Asus P6T motherboard and running at the stock clock rate it scored a 5,606 in 3DMark06, in-line with what earlier testers found. O/C’ed up to 3.8GHz it delivered a tidy 6,608, a mark that surely gives it control of all benchmarks and, thus, the PC universe.

[Thanks, Adam]
